Worshipping Together
What to Expect
When is your worship service?
Our Sunday worship is held at 9:30 a.m. in Hybrid format. More information here.
What happens during worship?
Our friendly greeters and ushers will welcome you as you enter the church sanctuary and will give you a bulletin with a printed order of service. All our services feature readings, preaching, prayer and music. We’re delighted to offer a gorgeous variety of sacred music.
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month and all are welcome at Christ’s table.
We maintain the ancient Christian practice of receiving an offering to support the church’s ministries. We welcome any and all gifts and encourage everyone to live a life marked by generosity. We also need offerings of time or talent to the church, another organization, or neighbors in need. Everyone is welcome among us, regardless of what you can contribute. Together, we live into God’s abundance.
Do you offer childcare?
Yes! Children and families of every constellation are welcomed and cherished at the First Congregational Church. If your child is too young to sit through a service, they can go downstairs to do a craft or hear a story and can be brought upstairs after, or remain for the rest of worship—whatever works best for them.
We offer a nursery for children three and younger. To reach the nursery, go down the stairs directly outside the sanctuary and walk through the large room to the right. The nursery is off the hallway beyond the big room and is available before the service or at any time during as needed.
But we also rejoice in the way children bring life into our sanctuary! We don’t mind fussing or fidgety kids in the pews—really! They are literally God’s Spirit moving in our midst.
How do I get there? Where do I park?
What should I wear?
How long do services last?
Is there a coffee or fellowship time after worship?
Is the church sanctuary accessible if I have mobility issues?
How can I get more information?
Please feel free to speak to one of our ministers, Rev. Dr. Ute Molitor or Rev. Patty Fox in person, by telephone or email. Our ushers and greeters can also answer many questions you may have when visiting on Sunday morning. During the week, please contact the church office to learn more. Celebrating Communion and Baptism
We celebrate the sacrament of Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Sacraments are a visible and tangible sign of God’s love and grace. And everyone is welcome at Christ’s table. We serve gluten free bread and juice. If you are joining us on Zoom, please have elements ready at home. We all participate in blessing the elements trusting the Holy Spirit’s power to nurture us all with God’s unconditional love.
We also celebrate the sacrament of Baptism for children and adults. When we are baptized, we join Christ’s community of faith. We commit ourselves to continue to grow in love, to work for justice, to seek and offer compassion and forgiveness, and to share in service as followers of Jesus Christ. Please contact one of the ministers to discuss plans for a baptism. It is our congregational practice to baptize in the context of a Sunday service. Exceptions are made on occasion, depending on context.
Join Us in Worship
Come and join us as we celebrate the love of God, the gift of community, and get recharged for our daily lives. All are welcome!
Our 9:30 am Sunday services are HYBRID! You can join us in person or participate in an interactive way via Zoom. To join us via Zoom please call the church office at 236-4821 or send an email to becky@camdenucc.org.
In addition to regular Sunday services, we offer seasonal worship services on Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. Times of those services will be posted on the website. During the summer, we sometimes gather in a beautiful outdoor setting. We also offer Vesper Services on a seasonal basis for quiet candlelight reflection, song, and prayer. And we’re also finding new ways to praise God! So subscribe to our mailing list for more information.
Becoming a Member
We regularly welcome people into full membership of our church community. Many people comment that they especially value the quality of the bonds among the people of this church. We deeply care about each other, our wider community, and the world. When we enter into covenant with God and with each other, we are changed.
Membership also means we work together in our visioning, decision making, fundraising, and service. You will be invited to participate fully in the life of the church.
Have questions? Attend an orientation! Together, we explore the life of this faith community but also ask questions about what has brought us here, what we yearn for, and how God’s spirit moves in our lives.
Technology lets us welcome people from far and wide! You do not have to live nearby to become a member. And we always look for ways to engage people online. We also welcome dual membership for folks who feel called to more than one faith community!
Please contact one of our ministers if you are interested in joining the church.
