Home Worship About Us Learning Getting Involved

MUSIC

Music plays an integral role in our worship together. Each Sunday we celebrate and express our faith through the singing of hymns, the choir anthems, and organ selections. At various times throughout the year, the bell choir lifts us up as well. As such an important element of worship, there are many opportunities for involvement!

Sanctuary Choirchoir

Good news! Susan Bryant has agreed to serve as our interim choir director until such time as our new director, Steve, starts in early October. Choir practice will start Wednesday, September 7, at 7 pm. She asks that we let her know if there are particular pieces we would like to hear the choir sing in the next month. Let her know at sbryant@bryantlawgroup.com.

Everyone is welcome to join the choir! If already a choir member, bring a friend who might be interested in joining this fall!

Music Director Search

We are so very pleased to announce that Steve Weston of Bangor has accepted our offer to be our new Director of Music, to begin in early October.  Steve is currently serving a church in Bangor and will use the month of September to wind down his responsibilities there and relocate to the midcoast.  Steve holds degrees in instrumentation and choral conducting from the University of Maine and New Mexico State University.  In addition to being accomplished on organ, piano, and flute, Steve has years of experience leading and teaching adults, youth, and children in church, school, and performing arts settings.  As part of the interview process, Steve conducted a mock rehearsal with members of our Sanctuary Choir and received rave reviews!  Please join us in making Steve feel welcome.  We’d also like to thank the Search Committee for their wonderful work over the summer in filling this important role in the life of the church; they are: Carole Brand (chair), Marcia Anderson (choir), Deb Endl (Deacons), Barbara Lannamann (choir), Amy Rollins (Music Committee), and Vicki Worden (congregation member at large).
