Position: Full Charge Bookkeeper


Part-time (24 hours), exempt

Finance subcommittee of Trustees, Treasurer, Church-appointed accountant and Personnel Committee


Conducts the weekly, monthly and yearly financial activities of the church in accordance with the FCC Camden Financial Control Policy. Manages employment recordkeeping and reporting ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations and church personnel policies.

  1. Works closely with outside payroll service, investment manager and church-appointed accountant to assure timely and accurate completion of payroll, investment management and monthly and annual financial reports for church leadership, Cabinet and Minister.
  2. Works effectively with volunteers and outside vendors (payroll, accountant, IT, investment and insurance) to ensure that the interests of the church are fairly represented.
  3. Manages accounts receivable and accounts payable; ensures that all receipts and expenses are properly coded to specific accounts and line items.
  4. Ensures timely monthly reconciliation of bank and investment statements.
  5. Manages cash flow and review of investment portfolio; prepares and presents monthly reports to the Treasurer and Finance Committee.
  6. Makes deposits to bank and investment portfolio.
  7. Serves as a resource to Boards, committees and Cabinet in the preparation of annual budgets and other financial matters.
  8. Serves as a resource to Trustees in decisions regarding acquisition of church equipment, software and insurance matters.
  9. In collaboration with the Personnel Committee, assumes responsibility for administration and recordkeeping in employment areas such as new hires, payroll, time benefits and assures required reporting in accordance with state and federal requirements.
  10. Performs other necessary and related work as may be assigned.


  1. College degree or commensurate relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated success in previous financial management and oversight responsibilities. Nonprofit, church or government experience desirable.
  3. Must show a working knowledge and experience of accounting, office operations, financial and computer systems.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary.
  5. Must be able to work effectively with church officers, boards, committees and fellow staff.
  6. Professional standard of conduct, demonstrating confidential, ethical and trustworthy behavior.
  7. Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, QuickBooks and internet browsers. Experience with accounting and organization management systems preferred.
  8. Successful completion of background check required.
