Christmas Services at First Congregational Church
Sunday, December 23   9:30 am Family Worship Service & Christmas Pageant.
Join us on Sunday, December 23 for our annual Christmas pageant. We will have Shepherds, angels, Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus and kings. Five children playing instruments during the pageant and one solo. There will be lots of opportunities to sing favorite hymns. Come join us!
Monday, December 24   9:00 pm Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Come and celebrate the birth of the Christ child in our midst. As we remember how God came into the world in this vulnerable child, we will hear the Christmas story and share many favorite carols. Our beautiful Christmas Eve candle light service will also feature a lot of special music. The choir will sing Handel’s beloved "Hallelujah Chorus” in addition to a cheery Spanish Christmas carol entitled "Riu Riu Chiu” which will feature Maho Hisakawa on flute. The basic themes of this 16th-century song are the special birth of Jesus Christ. The nonsense syllables "riu riu chiu” represent a nightingale’s song and were a traditional call by Spanish shepherds when guarding their flocks. Once again we will welcome the music of the Midcoast Brass Ensemble for our Christmas Eve service. Our new minister, Ute Molitor, will share a homily.
